How to treat pain in the pins and ball of foot? Hallow there!
Recently, I posted a question about how to prepare for my first 90KM cycling challenge (half Ironman). I got pretty good responses and some received 100% of the vote as the best answer.
Thank you very much for your comments.
Please note that I made the most of your advice on board and noticed a slight improvement, but the good news is that it is on the rise.
Now, I came across a different problem and I do really need your professional help in this matter.
I noticed that after 1:30:00 hours sitting on my saddle wig specialist "hard", my sit bones and not really hurt, so I had a very sharp pain like pressure or pressure "ball Foot "on both feet. Some forum recommended to wear bike shorts over the top two from each other, some said shorts "Assos" Double padding and chamois cream! Will cause the case and suggested some adjustments and re-measure custom the bike at a bike shop specialized and to find the correct posture.
Now that I have six more weeks to go in my case, I started to be nervous. I can sit in the huge gym soft saddle without problem for over three hours, but not in the saddle of the bike race in earnest.
I greatly appreciate any input, comments, tips or advice for me to go through this dilemma.
Thank you
Tommy
Is this your seat high enough? If you're too low, it can cause pain.
Is your saddle wide enough? Adding a couple of grams of weight to get a saddle that is a little more cost you very little time, but it will make you more comfortable.
You may also need to adjust the fore / aft saddle positioning.
Do you need short or longer cranks?
I realize that the race will never be as comfortable as a cruise on Sunday, but if you're unhappy, you performance will suffer. If you're comfortable on the saddle to the larger gym and miserable on the narrow saddle on the bike, I guess the number one culprit is to have a saddle that is too narrow for your sit bones.
When I had my last bike seat was fine for about an hour and then there was painful. I tried to get off the saddle more, but this only adds a little more time overall. I remembered the brand and model of my old bike (I could spend hours on this bike) and bought one and replace the one that came on my bike, now no pain. Go to your local bike shop and try some other saddles to find one that suits you best. With you, walk test the relationship of the pin the ball to your feet, it might be too far forward or backward and causing the sore foot.
The only trick is to find the saddle. You should be able to mount your 90K with just a single pair of cycling shorts usually when you find the right one. Once you do, when you have finished the 90K is the only thing that does not hurt is your sit bones!
Firstly, good bike check. Ask someone who knows what they do to check the configuration. Even something like a bad length of the rod can be seated in a position that becomes uncomfortable. If this does not work, so go a new saddle. I always start with Terry because they have a guarantee of 30 days. If you do not like the saddle, you can resume. I currently have the Terry Fly. The Liberator X is a classic long distance riding.
For your foot problem, again make sure your cleats are properly adjusted. Also make sure that the seat is correctly positioned front to back. I had friends SPD cleats complain about hot spots on the feet because of the platform of limited contact. Talk to people at your bike shop. A switch a pedal with a larger platform, such as Look, could be useful.

It may be time to try another saddle, I think some stores use a special device that measures your seat.
