My friend received a email from AuthorHouse, AuthorHouse has also called her. She never even heard of AuthorHouse. How do Authorhouse know his phone number and e-mail?

They bought it to someone. If she has already shared his e-mail address, telephone number, date of birth with any website, chances are they sold to people who want it. It is also perfectly legal.
