Am I eligible for a career in the Merchant Shipping (as a direct entry into the cadet deck)? I am a student of 10 +2 and am in Mumbai.
If I pass in physics, mathematics and chemistry with 60 +% marks
but my vision is not 6/6...so would it be possible for me to make an entry in the * student * Mate?
Also, what are the treatments for someone who works there?
Thank you.
It seems that the visual acuity of 6 / 6 in each eye is a fundamental requirement for admission to a course leading to a career in the merchant navy, if it is B. TS Chanakya Sc or B. MERI Tech, Calcutta. On the other hand, the qualification of university entrance level is a pass 10 +2 with PCM or B. Sc or, in some cases, a pass of 10. Some institutes ask the candidate to pass the 10 +2 examination with at least 55% marks. Based on these basic skills, the candidate may appear for HAV at an entrance exam or the All India JEE, as required by the various institutes. But a shortfall in a basic requirement can not be compensated by an excess in another. So if your eyesight is not 6 / 6, you can not offset that with a percentage of marks in the examination of 10 +2, which is higher than the minimum. You must have all the basic minimum qualifications.
