Is Camapagnolo going to eliminate the production of bicycle parts in Italy and go to the site as China less I noticed that many new Campy bike parts are not stamped "Made in Italy" as before. All Campagnolo vintage feature "Made in Italy" almost as prominently as the company logo. Anyway, I noticed that his clothing is now in the former Yugoslavia, so chances are if they do open up production outside Italy, it would be somewhere in Eastern Europe East. But perhaps they will follow the footsteps of Colnago and Cinelli and begin outsourcing production to Taiwan or China. I do not think they will be able to apply the prices in fat if it is not manufactured in Italy. Shimano works almost as well (some say better) and lines of high and medium range are manufactured in Japan, which is known for producing products of high quality precision. I have nothing against Chinese-made, but if you do your best price in China is really cheap to reflect the cost savings to society by any act of pollution, cheap labor, and lower taxes! Tullio was rolling in his grave if they ...
You know ..... If I were you I copy and send this exact email to Campy and see what their response is. And it's here! Outsourcing is the way things happened for the last two decades.
If they choose to do, I hope they use a country like Taiwan, the border with Pakistan, India, perhaps, rather than China. China leaps ahead of where they were 7 or 8 years ..... and the antithesis of the 80's and 90's superjunk products. The capacity and skills they now have to make quality parts is impressive. This does not mean that you will always see quality stuff from China, because many importers orders cheapie just spec. But little-known fact, nearly 95% of hydropower in the world are manufactured in China, not just consumer items you find at Walmart cheapie and auto parts stores. They have the skills.
China is also the world leader in the manufacture of carbon fiber and carbon fiber products. (Sounds like King of the Hill, I know ...)
Campy has hit hard times during several periods over the past 15 years, but they always make it through. It will be interesting to see what effect Sram will have on them in the next two years.
I agree. People in China make ridiculously low wages. With almost $ 65 a MONTH.
Bite your tongue you blasphemer! Pay attention to the lightning of the gods. And how dare you say such things about a forum where small children can see it. The nerve.
most of their orders is already outsourced. good luck finding all the components fully worked in their country of origin. my advice, go with SRAM.
So far I've only heard to ensure that they are outsourcing the line Fulcrum (now cranks and wheels) in Taiwan. The high price of Campy parts in the United States has less to do with the cost of Italian job as the dollar trading so poorly against the euro and inefficient distribution. I do not think they sell enough to warrant moving their factory. Colnago only moved production outside Italy because the factories are in Taiwan so far from composite materials.
There are several parts that are already manufactured in Asia to Campy, and I expect that number to increase.
China and Taiwan have far exceeded the rest of the world in the quality of manufacturing and supply has little to do with wages. The cost of living is lower, and paying too much upset the economic balance of the country, causing a higher class and abject poverty stricken underclass with galloping inflation.
In addition, most things midline Shimano Malaysia.
i cannot disagree with any observations made so far, but let us not forget that China is in the wrong direction right now they have much pressure the U.S. g.
