Carter has received reports that some babies with sensitive skin may be allergic to the heat transferred, or "tag-less, labels used in baby clothes and baby, including clothing from Carter. Children with Such allergies can develop a localized rash in the general area of the label on the upper back. Naturally, we are very concerned about any child who may have had a rash while wearing our clothes and we looked at this issue thoroughly.

We conducted an internal review of the product and test results, required our label manufacturers to do likewise, and in coordination with several independent experts, including physicians, to provide their tests. Our review and testing do not give any indication that the labels contain no known skin irritants or abrasive chemicals, or that the rash is anything beyond a rare allergic reaction to an otherwise safe product. We have received fewer than four reported rashes for every million of those sales.

Nevertheless, we have worked closely with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and issued a joint opinion to alert consumers to the situation.

Rashes have been reported associated with tag-less labels used in our range of products fall 2007. These labels have a solid rather than stenciled, background. Past and current product lines Carter use the labels thoroughly stencil and have not been linked to skin rashes.

If your child develops an allergic reaction, you should stop using the garment that caused the reaction. If the problem persists, please contact your pediatrician for advice. You can return any item you are not satisfied for a full refund. Our staff can help consumer to return.

Carter was determined to be the industry leader in safety and quality.
