Gemstone JewelryWhat is the most appropriate cleaning and polishing of precious stones jewelry?

I have some rings on stones and wanted to know the most appropriate cleaning and polishing of jewelry gemstones without altering or destroying the gems?

Hello Rated R

Correctly answer this question depends on your type of saying what you have in your jewelry stones.

There is no right answer for all types of precious stones.

General advice, you've got, but beware, opals, turquoise, and such!

JW

soak overnight in water [dishsoap / liquid] the next day using a soft tothbrush and wash them in a bowl on the counter. if you had the sink I can guarantee a reduction in the sewer. Rinse with warm water, using a colander or sieve. Do not do to opals. Just rinse with water and use the toothbrush ..... a colander .. and store them in mineral oil.
or
ammonia solution for soft stones .. except opals again ... brush, rinse repeat.

What the opals? they are porous and absorb water and soap and go cloudy or soak up the ammonia and balls ..

Cleaning the stones can be done using cleaners utrasonic. To clean jewelry that contains all of precious stones, steam cleaners are a good alternative to ultrasonic cleaners, but it must still be taken. It is best to clean your gemstone jewelry with a soft flannel polishing dry.
