Im not sure if it does smell of oil. but some people who bought the boots and commented on that it smelled like oil
So Im guessing thats what that smell is atrocious

themoutside allows the air under the sun and it will vanish. unless you want to clean with vinegar, but so theyll smell like vinegar. or set it on fire. haha just kidding. let sit outdoors for a day or two and it'll just disappear,

the smell is part of the tanning process. Remember that leather will breathe, so it will take a day or two for ventilation. Let air boots if you have a weird smell. Probably it is a stroke of luck for this exam, and you should not be concerned at all.
