Pea Coat

I just bought a pea coat (small size) and a few people say that the length of the dress is too long. It is a black pea coat military style with a turtleneck collar with two buttons. The length falls about 4 inches of my knees. I always thought that jackets were supposed to be long? Should I go to a tailor to get it fixed and make it more or less fine, it is at its current length?

I'm looking to buy my first cloak and looked at many different stores. I have not seen all this time. That said, I think the style of the dress looks nice - perhaps even more "classier" than the standard cloak.

It may be a military coat 3 / 4 of? I think you should wear any kind of jacket you want. I always understood classic pea coats wool, dark blue, almost black, crossed back wide and covers just the back end. Some coats have shoulder tabs, but most have tabbed wrist.
