Yes it is. I visit the Pilanesberg at least twice a year and I only go for the day in Pretoria. It's about two hours by car. You need to enter at least between 7 and 8:00 am if you want to go to 16 hours. Ii usually leave Pretoria between 5 and 6:00 in the morning and leave the park, from 4 to 17 hours.

JC: Remember that you live in South Africa and a day is enough for you that you can go at any time, you decide. This may not be the case for tourists.

Yes, I want to say one day would be sufficient. You're in the car for a while, so do not think you want to do that two days in a row. Enjoy our wildlife.

hmmm this is very far from Johannesburg and not one day was not enough. There are some very nice lodges in the area where you can stay two or three days.
