Safety shoes? I've worn Dansko for several years and love them. I know they are OSHA approved, but am wondering what other shoes are approved as well. I recently as a gift was given a pair of shoes identical to my LL Bean Dansko, but afraid to wear them if they are not OSHA approved. nobody knows if they are online or a list of what all the shoes are and arent? I work in a restaurant and his agent, so any ideas would be appreciated!
OSHA does not approve anything. Standards for personal protective equipment are established by ANSI, PPE manufacturers may see that they meet ANSI standards.
Appropriate conservation to foot most of the restaurants include closed toes and nonskid soles, unless your request for steel-toed work shoes. Ask your supervisor for the exact specification they want for safety shoes.
The best place for safety footwear for the restaurant industry is shoesforcrews they have ultra light and comfortable shoes, they are all anti-slip designed for food service. If you do not buy shoes over the Internet or through a catalog try your local Iron Age / Knapp Shoes store. They have branches everywhere and they have many models to choose from, including some made by popular manufacturers.
Me want to watch it on the OSHA website.
Redwing makes steel-toed shoes:

From the website: The best way to determine whether the requirement of ANSI has been satisfied by the manufacture of shoes is to look for "ANSI Z41.1" marking in the shoe.
I am a waitress and must slip footwear ... Believe me, I prefer wearing shoes cuter than the "approved" them. I just bought a pair of shoes at Payless ShoeSource (called Cross Trekkers) and they felt like I bought it already broken in! Also, my store gave me a discount cuz I work @ a restaurant. Yeah they hurt a little, but just for one day. and I am picky about my shoes ... is the only pair of "shoes" that I have. I wish I could wear high heels to work! I hope this helps you out: -)
