What happened to the project surfdome London (the wave artificial) definition? have not heard more of this ... ... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/londo
anyone heard anything?
cheers
I think the plans for this surfdome were simply ... washed (no pun intended)
We at SurfScience.com just did an interview with the Wave Loch guys who do a lot of the artificial wave technology. We got to talk about the future of such technologies and the fundamental problems they have. One of the biggest problems is that to have waves, you need shallow water. For a structure within which is shallow and long term, most practical choices, which is not very fun to come across.
Another big problem is that the pools too choppy if they do not stop after every few set waves. I do not know with certainty who was the construction of the surfdome in London, but I'm sure they ran into the same problems.
Hopefully they will all face soon if it becomes too tight in the water ...
