Vegan Clothing5 Myths About Vegan Fashion

"I could never be a vegan. I love shoes too!" What would you say that you do not wear wool in winter? Shearing does not hurt the sheep, no? "What you wear to keep warm?" These are just a few of the many comments I hear regularly from women when they consider what they think it means to be a vegan. In a word. . . deprivation. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Like the food we eat. . . if I had a penny for every time I hear: "You're a vegetarian! What do you eat? Oh, yes, salads. "Period. It's like that's it. And the only thing they can think is," Ouch, that would be horrible. I like the salad, but every day at every meal... I do think so. "

Eating a vegan diet is much more delicious and easier than most people imagine (and salads are just a small part of it), but we're not here to talk about that now. Instead, look at the five myths abound when it comes to "style vegan," and not the two concepts are not mutually exclusive.

1. Denial - "I do not want to wear shapeless clothing and shoes made of plastic." Whoa, hold on. I can guarantee you that everyone already has at least some "vegan" clothes in their wardrobe without even knowing it. Do you wear cotton, linen, rayon, or a microfiber synthetic fabulous now available? Of course you do. And the designs more beautiful fabrics are made in humane these days. With a little forethought and label reading, it is not necessary deprivation!

2. The leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. The animals are not killed solely for their skin - in fact, both are true. Contrary to popular belief (even when people think about it at all), some animals are killed for their skins and fur design. The process is horrible. And by wearing skins, regardless of how the skin is acquired, you are silently endorsing the brutal treatment and death of millions and millions of animals. Without denying or ignoring this fact does not make it disappear.

3. It's too expensive - Not at all. Like all fashion, fashion is vegan in all price levels. footwear prices, for example, run from Payless to www.charmone.com. There is something for everyone whatever your budget.

4. They are not well made - Guess what? Like anything else it depends on where you shop. My closet contains clothes from Armani target (yes, the Armani is vegan), so that you store or thrift shops (or both like me) you choose the amount of attention to detail that goes into a particular garment or accessory.

5. It's too hard - well, I'll be frank. Get over it. If I can do it anyone can. When I imagined how I would be a vegan image consultant, I might say, "No, it's too hard." Instead, I chose to do an adventure, and I never see my decision. It's about listening to your heart - the rest will fall into place easily and pleasantly.

Do not let these myths sabotaging your desire to live humanely. They honestly do not have to. Like anything else, it's a matter of supply and demand, and I'm already seeing the advantage of tilting in the direction of cruelty free, vegan fashion. With each person who makes this commitment, our increased choice and other myths (no pets) die.
